Hello! I'm Michael Shelver, a mountain sports athlete. I spend as much time as possible adventuring outdoors whether it be climbing, skiing, hiking or running. I do this all while managing the disease I have had for the majority of my life, Type 1 Diabetes. In my spare time I study exercise physiology and am currently on my way to obtain a Masters in the subject at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway. My goal is to use my experiences to help inspire others to get outside and participate in mountain sports previously thought impossible with diabetes, whether it be a simple day hike or multi-week expedition. Follow along as I give trip reports, tips and lessons learned about management of diabetes in the outdoors.
